Oakfield GCC does not provide a lightning detection system, does not interpret weather data and does not provide information on potentially dangerous weather. All members and guests are solely responsible for their decision to use the golf course and should be aware of the potential for serious weather and injury. It should be noted that during dangerous weather conditions (lightning, wind, hail, torrential rains, etc.) Oakfield GCC staff will not be allowed to shuttle golfers to safe areas and are responsible for their own well being. Members and Guests should refer to Environment Canada for reliable weather information. Should inclement or dangerous weather approach, it is mandatory that players seek shelter at the nearest and safest locations which are outlined below.

  1. Clubhouse area

  2. Weather shelter on hole #18 tee

  3. Bathrooms on holes #6 / #12 tee

On course structures are not equipped with any type of lightning proofing equipment. Lightning is a very serious and hazardous situation and all members must take appropriate precautions to avoid a harmful situation. Members should avoid the following areas:

  1. Tall objects

  2. Large, open areas

  3. Wet areas

  4. Elevated areas

  5. All metal objects including, golf clubs, golf carts, fences, electrical and maintenance machinery and power lines.
